This may be a bit macabre for some people but as a therapist I enjoy continually learning on how best to improve my treatments and my understanding of the human body. Everyday new studies are being carried out, new discoveries are being made and new experiences are being laid out for us to try.
That said, as a sports therapist the human body fascinates me. I have learnt to feel how the muscles move under my fingers, I know where the painful spots will be and I know how to treat them. However, there is nothing better than seeing them at first hand.
I am going to be attending a course in March that is going to allow me to see what the physios, doctors and osteopaths have been able to see that is human anatomy under the skin. It is a course at Kings College hospital in London that uses pre-prepared specimens to see and feel how the muscles, tendons, ligaments and nerves work and sit in their natural places. This is going to give me an even better knowledge of pinpointing more accurately exactly where and how the muscles etc lie which in turn will help when I am treating whatever conditions I am presented with.
